Dr. Douglas Jefcoat
Doctor Jefcoat was born in Soso, Mississippi and reared on a family dairy farm. He completed his high school education at Ellisville High School, in Ellisville, MS. Pre-veterinary training was completed at Jones County Junior College and Mississippi State University. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Dr. Jefcoat returned to Laurel and joined Dr. Clyde Odom in the practice of veterinary medicine at Odom Animal Clinic which is now Sawmill Animal Hospital, P.A.
Dr. Jefcoat is married to Cheryl T. Jefcoat and has two daughters: Lani J. Gautier (Brian) and Rebecca J. Day (Wesley) and twin three year old grandchildren Sara Beth and Mahlon Day. Memberships include First Baptist Church of Laurel, American Veterinary Medical Association, Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association, Kiwanis Club of Laurel, and EDA of Jones County which continues to be part of Dr. Jefcoat’s commitment to the community. Dr. Jefcoat currently resides on a dairy farm with his wife Cheryl and seven cats (Gabby, Felix, Ace, Ossi, Ellie, Yellow Son, and Grayson). Areas of special interest in veterinary medicine include surgery of soft tissue and orthopedics along with canine and feline medicine. Dr. Jefcoat’s hobbies include gardening, tree farming, and dairy farming.
